Celebrate Greenfest; Peabody Firefighters Take On Harlem Superstars

City's first eco-friendly fair on Saturday will offer residents great advice to make their world a little greener.

It’s Friday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

But fortunately, spring has now taken hold offering plenty of great activities to do outside and there is plenty of to without ever leaving town this weekend.

Where/When: The James E. McVann-Louis F. O'Keefe Memorial Skating Rink, every Friday from 6:15 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Why go: Great opportunity for families to enjoy skating and to teach little ones who to skate.

Pricing: Children 10 and under cost $3; youth and adults, $5, and skate rentals are $6.

Where/When: Peabody Veterans Memorial High School, 7 p.m.

Why go: The Peabody Firefighters Honor Guard Association is holding a charity basketball game to raise funds for its organization and the Harlem Superstars Comedy Basketball Team will out on a great show as they play against the Peabody firefighters team.

Pricing: Adults, $10, children 12 and under, free.

3. CITY HOLDS FIRST GREENFEST

Where/when: The Peter A. Torigian Community Life Center, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Why go: This will have information and demonstrations on living a cleaner, healthier, greener life. Learn how to make your home more sustainable with cost-saving methods. There will be fun and educational activities for children, electronics recycling, vendors, cell-phone and shoe collections for shelters, a plant and seed trade and much more.

Pricing: Free.

Where/When: Peabody Bikeway entrance is located on North Shore Road behind the Northshore Mall and is open every day..Now that spring is in full swing, this weekend is the perfect time for families to break out their bicycles and cruise up and down the Peabody Bikepath and get some exercise.

Why go: Well-maintained, city facility offers families a safe and enjoyable place to enjoy bicycling.

Pricing: Free.

Where/When: Brooksby Farm is located in West Peabody on Felton Street and is open seven days a week daily.

Why go: Farm offers a quiet, rural setting where families can reconnect with Peabody's agricultural roots, picnic and hike nature trails.
