Police and Peabody Public Schools sent a note home to parents Wednesday with details on the incident.

PEABODY, MA --Peabody Police and Peabody Public Schools are warning parents after a student reported an abduction attempt Tuesday. The student told police that they were walking on Irving Street around 2:50 pm when a man driving a light blue Honda Civic told the student "Get in the car."

The man was described as being in his late twenties or early thirties with light brown skin. His female passenger was also described as being in her late twenties or early thirties. She was white and had short hair.

In a message to parents Wednesday, the school department said the incident is under investigation. "The incident, if proven true, may jeopardize the Peabody school children and is being brought to your attention so that you can take precautions that you deem appropriate," the note said.
