Peabody Collectibles Dealer Selling Alleged Whitey Bulger Prison Jumpsuit

Plymouth County DA says the jumpsuit allegedly signed by Bulger is a fake.

Cashing in on convicted mobster James “Whitey” Bulger is big business in the Boston area.

One Peabody sports and memorabilia dealer recently claimed to be auctioning off a prison jumpsuit worn by Bulger when he was convicted, according to the Boston Herald.

The jumpsuit is supposedly signed by Bulger and was given to another inmate of the Plymouth County Correctional Facility, Sportsworld owner Phil Castinetti told the Herald.

However, Plymouth County Sheriff Joe McDonald Jr. said it is more than likely that the jumpsuit is a fake, stating that Bulger would not have had the opportunity to give the clothes off his back to anyone.

Several Boston crime experts also pointed out that it is highly unlikely that Bulger would have signed ”Whitey” as part of his name, since it was a nickname of which he was less than fond.

On Wednesday afternoon, there were no Bulger items posted on the Sportsworld website and Castinetti was not at the store to answer a phone call about the current status of the bidding for the jumpsuit.
