Community Outreach Leads to Drug Arrest in Peabody

The investigation was cultivated from numerous anonymous tips received via MyPD, an anonymous tip reporting venue.

Anonymous sources and a 10-month investigation led to the arrest of a 36-year-old Peabody man on drug distribution charges on Tuesday.

At about 2:15 pm on Tuesday, numerous law enforcement officials from the Peabody Police Narcotics and Patrol Divisions, Drug Enforcement Agency, and detectives from the North Reading Police Department converged on a house at 7 Barnstable Road in Peabody for the execution of a search warrant. Cash and various drugs were confiscated during the execution of the search warrant.

Gino Martiniello, 36, and a resident of the house was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute a Class B drug, possession with intent to distribute a Class C drug, and possession of Class E and B drugs.

The arrest was the result of a ten-month long investigation led by the Peabody Police Narcotics Unit.

Community outreach and communication were primary contributing factors in decisively removing the alleged illegal activities occurring in the residential neighborhood, according to Peabody police officials.

The investigation was cultivated from numerous anonymous tips received via MyPD, an anonymous tip reporting venue available through the Peabody Police website or may be downloaded as a smart phone app.

Peabody Police Chief Thomas Griffin thanked the members of the community for their cooperation and assistance that has been offered to his officers.

“Promoting community outreaches in conjunction with building strong relationships are imperative in the continued success of maintaining a safe environment for our residents. The results of this investigation are proof that communication works”, said Griffin.
