Taxi Co. Complains Drunken Man Used Drugs in Cab, Refused to Leave

The following information was provided by the Peabody Police Department. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following excerpts are from reports in the press log from March 23-25.

Friday, March 23

  • 2:54 p.m. Diane Lezenski, 42, of 47 Beach St., Revere, was arrested at a Bartholomew Street residence, folllowing a report from a man that his friend's ex-wife was either impaired or intoxicated. She was charged with domestic assault and battery.
  • 4:45 p.m. A caller on Tumelty Road reported the air-conditioner line to her house was cut. She was unsure if it happened over the winter and said she was having trouble with her neighbor's children.
  • 6:14 p.m. Danielle J. Steenbruggen, 30, of 111 Lowell Rd. #106, North Reading, was arrested, following a report of a shoplifter being detained by store security at . She was charged with shoplifting and on a warrant from for more of the same.
  • 7:09 p.m. A caller on Tumelty Road reported her neighbor's kids called her kids names. Police spoke with all those involved and reported the children were calling each other names. Later at 7:43 p.m., the woman called back, saying her neighbor "gave her the finger" and sped by, warning her to "watch out." Police tried to speak with the other woman, but were unable to do so.
  • 7:18 p.m. A caller from North Shore Taxi reported youths threw rocks at his taxi and broke a wndow. Police said all three would be issued summonses for malicious destruction of property. At least one of the trio was 17.
  • 9:48 p.m. Police received calls of loud blasts being heard by residents in the area of 300 Lynnfield St. Police said it might have been fireworks. Officers checked on Farm Avenue and the Crestview neighborhood, but could not locate a source for the noise.

Saturday, March 24

  • 12:57 a.m. Nicholas Moore, 24, of 2 Surfside Rd., Lynn, was arrested, following a motor vehicle stop on Route 114 at Hilltop Drive. He was charged with speeding, driving with a suspended license and in an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.
  • 1:56 a.m. Justin T. Richardson, 20, off 11 Benjamin Rd., Belmont, was arrested, following a motor vehicle stop on Route 128 at I-95. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding and in an unregistered vehicle.
  • 10 a.m. A caller reported a car was parked on the golf course at the . The vehicle was facing out toward Forest Street and was close to Route 1. Police were unable to locate the vehicle however.
  • 12:14 p.m. A caller at a Holten Street apartment reported her wallet was stolen from her residence.
  • 1:02 p.m. Jimmy Garcia, 29, of 18 Cedar St. #2, Lynn, was arrested, following a motor vehicle stop at the mall. He was charged with failure to use care in starting, stopping or turning, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, vehicle not meeting RMV safety standards and on an outstanding warrant from a federal agency.
  • 1:14 p.m. Police responded to a report of a past break-in at a Tracey Street apartment. Several hundred dollars were taken over the past few days. There were no signs of forced entry.
  • 3:24 p.m. The Fire Department responded to a chimney fire at a Quail Road home. The fire was caused by the chimney being blocked.
  • 8:22 p.m. A 32-year-old East Boston woman was issued a summons for shoplifting at .
  • 8:34 p.m. A caller reported three people were having an open campfire at Maple Hill Cemetery. An officer located the invididuals and had them put the fire out.
  • 10:49 p.m. A caller reported some youths were shooting each other with paintballs on King Street. Police checked three youths and did not find any paintballs, but spoke to the father of one youth who agreed to pay for damage to the building.

Sunday, March 25

  • 1:05 a.m. Joseph A. Butters, 39, of 10 Pearson St., Beverly, was arrested on Walnut Street, following a report of an intoxicated customer using drugs inside a taxi and refusing to exit the vehicle. He was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and possession of a Class B drug.
  • 1:38 a.m. An officer reported a liquor law violation at Oliveira's Steak House on Walnut Street. The incident was documented and passed on to the city's Licensing Board.
  • 2:54 a.m. The Fire Department extinguished a fire inside a recyclables barrel at the .
  • 4:16 a.m. Police responded to a break-in at . Police said the suspect gained entry to the building, but was startled after coming across the owners inside. The male suspect then fled in a motor vehicle, last seen heading down Main Street toward Salem. The vehicle was found at 16 Granite Rd. and towed to the station.
