Mayor Edward A. Bettencourt, Jr., is pleased to announce the fourth concert of the Annual Summer Concert Series. It will take place on Sunday, Aug. 12 from 6-8 p.m. and will feature the return of the ever popular Beantown Swing Orchestra and American Idol Finalist John Stevens.
The Beantown Swing Orchestra represents swing music as it really was during its heyday: exciting and performed by hip young musicians. The Beantown Swing picks up where the young Swing Era bands left off. There is one surprising difference, however, their music is enjoyed by all generations, as opposed to the Swing Era when older folks did not appreciate the “new” sounds they were hearing.

Older generations love them because they perform the music as they remember it when they were growing up. In addition, younger generations love them because their musicians know how to stylize the music to make it sound hip to modern ears. The result is a phenomenon not seen anywhere else – toddlers, seniors and everyone in between dancing to their music together.
Joining the orchestra again this year is Mr. John Stevens. He impressed millions of Idol viewers in 2004 with his singing. Now, John is impressing fans with his vocal renditions of classic Sinatra, Darin and Harry Connick, Jr., as well as big band tunes!
