John G. Funchion Author Library Visit

Author John G. Funchion will read and discuss stories from his recently published book, "Move the Sock Hole Over,” Monday, Nov. 28, 7 p.m., at the Peabody Institute Library, 82 Main St.

Funchion's book is a series of essays and reflections, generated from his childhood in Peabody, while his observations of nature emanate from his daily three-mile walks wherever he happens to be in the world. Each brief, but compelling tale is a refreshing look at some of the quirks of the human condition. The simple stories contain elements of humor, sadness and pathos that are familiar to most people.

The author is a former journalist with the Lynn Evening Item and the Boston Herald, and a retired high school English teacher. “Move the Sock Hole Over" is his second book. A period of questions and comments will follow the reading.
