Four-Year-Old Hit By Car In Peabody Faces Long Recovery

Nathan Araujo emerged from a coma more than a week after he and his mother were hit by a car.

PEABODY, MA -- The four-year-old boy who was hit by a car as he and his mother left a daycare on Washington Street in Peabody emerged from a coma, but remains in serious condition and faces a long recovery. Nathan Araujo and his mother, Marly, were both serious injured in the Nov. 15 accident, which remains under investigation.

Citing an unnamed family friend, the Daily Item said Nathan emerged from his coma on Friday, more than a week after the accident. "Nathan woke up Friday and opened his eyes and the doctors are really positive. He was conscious and able to respond to his mother. He’s doing so much better," the source told the newspaper.
