If you have driven up Route 1 North in recent months you have probably wonder what was being built on the former Carriage House Motel lot. JRM Hauling & Recycling recently expanded operations in Peabody, moving their recycling plant from Malden to Peabody.
The new state of the art facility, called Greenworks, includes a solar paneled roof, benefits the City of Peabody by providing additional 30-40 full time job opportunities, redeveloping an unoccupied, underutilized parcel of land, increased excise tax revenue, as well as as well as water/sewer upgrades and new storm water collection/filtration system.
In addition, Greenworks, Inc. has incorporated an educational component as well to focus on the processing of recyclable materials and provide educational opportunities to teach the importance of recycling to our environment and economy. Once fully operational school, civic or business groups can oversee the process from the educational observation deck inside.
The project was financed by Eastern Bank and the Massachusetts Development Finance Agency.
