Judge Freezes Assets Of Accused Peabody Wife Killer
Emilio Matarazzo stopped to look at his children as he was led from the courtroom after Tuesday's hearing.

PEABODY, MA -- Salem Superior Court Judge Timothy Feeley froze the assets of a Peabody man accused of shooting and killing his estranged wife in the driveway of the Everett home where she was staying. Emilio Matarazzo said his kids "can get the properties and sell, do whatever they want" as he was led from the courtroom at the end of Tuesday's hearing, according to the Salem News, which first reported this story. He then stopped to look at his children seated in the front row, forcing his daughter to burst into tears, the newspaper said.
The children of Ersilia Cataldo, 50, of Everett filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Matarazzo last month to prevent him from accessing four bank accounts and a brokerage account the couple held jointly. Cataldo had filed for divorce about a month before she was killed.
According to prosecutors, Matarazzo shot and killed her in the driveway of her parents Everett home, where she had been staying, as she left for work one morning in December. Matarazzo turned himself into police two hours after they received the initial shots fired call last month.
