Man in Undies Enters 7-Eleven for Early Morning Tussle With Store Clerk

The following information was provided by the Peabody Police Department. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following are excerpts from reports in the  press log from July 5-8.

Thursday, July 5

  • 4:47 p.m. A Madison Avenue resident reported two males asked if he wanted his driveway seal coated that morning, and then about two hours later, the man realized his utilities weren’t working. About three hours after that, he realized the wires were cut on the outside of his house.
  • 5:02 p.m. Michael E. Hammond, 34, of 3 Morgans Island Rd., Beverly, was arrested, following a motor vehicle accident on Kosciusko Street. He was charged with possession of a Class B drug and on a warrant from Salem.
  • 8:27 p.m. An employee at the reported a caregiver had left an elderly person at the restaurant.
  • 8:34 p.m. Police received a report of a portable toilet that was tipped over at the Kiley School.

Friday, July 6

  • 9:39 a.m. A Peabody man reported a case of identity fraud. He said someone created a business in Lowell with his daughter's Social Security number.
  • 4:15 p.m. A 54-year-old Peabody man was issued a summons for two counts of assault and battery on ambulance personnel after attacking EMTs who responded to a medical emergency at his residence at Pine Grove Mobile Estates. The man was taken to Salem Hospital.
  • 5:18 p.m. A Peabody male was transported to Lynn Union Hospital, following a report of a narcotic overdoes at a Mansfield Street home.
  • 5:27 p.m. A 49-year-old man was issued a lifetime no trespass order, following a report of an intoxicated shoplifter at .
  • 7:14 p.m. Police responded to a report of a car break-in on Tracey Street. A BMW's door locks were damaged and two subwoofer boxes and a four-channel amplifier were stolen.
  • 8:56 p.m A male caller reported his mother-in-law's home on Andover Terrace was broken into. He said a back window was smashed. Police checked the home and reported no one actually got inside. Entry was just gained to a back room sealed off from the rest of the house.
  • 9:03 p.m. Police responded to a report of a disturbance at an Endicott Street apartment. Police said it was not a domestic situation -- two people were talking loudly and threw a mattress off a third-floor balcony.
  • 9:30 p.m. A female caller reported her car windshield was hit with an object thrown by someone near on Lowell Street. Police said it was a pink water balloon.

Saturday, July 7

  • 12:11 a.m. A caller reported he and his girlfriend were walking along Washington Street near Colfax Street when she was hit in the back with an egg. He said the unknown egg-thrower was in a vehicle.
  • 9:11 a.m. Twyla R. Hoggard, 31, of 1 Princeton St., Peabody, was arrested, following a motor vehicle stop at the corner of Route 114 and Violet Road. She was charged with driving with a suspended license, revoked registration, in an uninsured vehicle and on an outstanding warrant from Salem District Court. The warrant was for multiple charges of drug violations.
  • 11:59 a.m. A 39-year-old Peabody man was issued a summons for domestic assault and battery, following a report of a domestic assault at a Pound Lane apartment.
  • 3:58 p.m. A 60-year-old woman was transported to Salem Hospital after a three-car accident at the corner of Lowell and Chestnut streets. Two cars were towed from the scene.
  • 5:31 p.m. An employee at the reported a man attempted to take a woman's purse and fled in a Blue Ford Fusion toward the . The employee then told an officer that the male and female were arguing over who would pay the bill. The pair both left before police arrived and employees said the bill was ultimately paid for.
  • 5:58 p.m. A caller on Granite Street reported a male was banging on her back window, shouting obscenities at her and then fled in a car when he was confronted by another male who lived there. Police stopped the vehicle at the Lynn line and reported later that it was a case of a "mistaken location."
  • 7:49 p.m. A female caller reported she was removing her child from a large group of people at a Veterans Memorial Drive residence. The child was complaining of his ribs hurting. Officers said it was a sexual assault and was under investigation.
  • 8:10 p.m. A male caller reported he lost his wallet and someone then used his debit card.
  • 10:53 p.m. Police recieved a report of eight American flags burnt in front of a Baldwin Street home.

Sunday, July 8

  • 1:09 a.m. Francisco Mercado, 40, of 12 Belvidere Pl., Lynn, was arrested, follownig a motor vehicle stop on Route 1. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol (second offense), a marked lanes violation and not having a valid inspection sticker.
  • 2:47 a.m. Edward Colameta, 33, of 28 Bay Rd. #2L, Revere, was arrested, following a motor vehicle stop on Route 1. He was charged with a driving under the influence of alcohol and a marked lanes violation.
  • 2:58 a.m. A store clerk at the on Lynn Street reported a male entered the store in his underwear and tried to fight him. The male fled the scene in a dark-colored vehicle with another passenger. Police said there was a strong language barrier and all individuals were sent on their way.
  • 6:27 a.m. A female caller reported the vacant house next door to hers was broken into overnight and all the furniture was stolen. She said the front door was shattered Officers checked the home and said it appeared the family of the deceased had cleaned out the house.
  • 10:18 a.m. A caller reported a vehicle suspected to be involved in metal thefts over at Pulaski Street was spotted on Overlea Avenue. The vehicle was described as a green pickup truck with a wrought iron cage in the back. Police were unable to find the truck.
  • 10:54 a.m. A male was transported to Mass. General Hospital after he fell about three feet from a ladder on Russell Street and hit his back and head. His brother said he was having memory loss as a result of the fall.
  • 11:13 a.m. A caller at Park Square reported finding a bag of drug paraphernelia in his yard.
  • 12:13 p.m. Kathleen M. Piracini, 29, of 369 Shirley St. #2, Winthrop, was arrested, following a report of a shoplifter at . She was charged on an outstanding warrant from Salem District Court and larceny over $250.
  • 12:52 p.m. A caller on Katina Lane reported a larceny and vandalism to her pool.
