Mother, Child Remain In Serious Condition After Peabody Crash
Police said the mother struck by a car on Washington Thursday night is Marly Araujo, 48, of Peabody.

PEABODY, MA -- Marly Araujo, 48, of Peabody and her four-year-old son remained in serious condition at Mass General Hospital in Boston Friday afternoon after being hit by a car on Washington Street in Peabody Thursday night. Peabody police released the woman's condition and an update on her condition Friday.
Araujo was crossing the street after picking her son up at a daycare on Washington Street. A witness told WCVB that the boy's father was waiting in a car parked across the street. The driver remained on scene and was "visibly shaken." The crash remains under investigation by Peabody Police the Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit and the Essex County District Attorney's Office
"They probably got thrown 15 to 20 feet," Leslie Weinberg, who lives on Washington Street, told WCVB. The father "was upset. He was sobbing, of course, but he watched his wife and kid get hit by a car."
