Obituary: Ellen T (Murphy) Rogers, Employed by the Polaroid Corp. For Over 30 Years

Ellen T (Murphy) Rogers, 85, of Peabody, died early Tuesday morning at the Continuing Care at Brooksby Village with her family by her side following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of Raymond C. Rogers with whom she shared over 64 years of marriage.
Besides her loving husband, she is survived by her children, Joseph Rogers and his wife Vivian Xia of Acton, Raymond Rogers and his wife Lynne Neeley of Mountain Lakes, NJ, Maryellen Merck and her husband Louis of Green Bay, WI, her two sisters, Josephine Sheehan and her husband Lawrence and Elizabeth Wynne and her husband Martin, both of Peabody and by her six cherished grandchildren, Mary Catherine and her fiancé Kim Provensal, Lu Yipei, Christopher, James and his wife Lydia Sohn, Meredith, and Aidan.

Born in Winthrop, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Rahilly) Murphy. She was a long time resident of Revere and has spent the last 20 years living in Peabody.
Ellen was employed and retired with over 30 years of service at the Polaroid Corporation. She retired again at age 80 after working for fifteen years as the bookkeeper at Immaculate Conception Church in Revere.

Devoted to her family and church, Ellen embodied the Christian values of charity and humility. She served as Eucharistic minister and lector at St. Mary’s and Immaculate Conception in Revere, St. John the Baptist and Chapel at Brooksby Village in Peabody. Her artistry was legendary. Ellen enjoyed sewing, knitting, and quilting for celebrations within her large extended family and hosted many family gatherings in her home.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 3:00 until 6:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her funeral will be held in Monday at 9:00 AM at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. John’s Church to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Expressions of sympathy can be made in her name to either to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the National Ataxia Foundation, 2600 Fernbrook Lane, Suite 119, Minneapolis, MN 55447-4752.
