Roads Closed As Peabody 3-Alarm Fire Spreads On Wheatland Street
UPDATE: Multiple emergency services reports said that the fire spread quickly in the 2.5-level, 4,700-square-foot structure.
PEABODY, MA — A fire in a 2.5-story wood structure on Wheatland Street in Peabody quickly reached three alarms on Wednesday morning as roads were closed in the area while crews worked to dampen the flames and smoke amid windy conditions.
"There is a working fire on Wheatland Street in the Prospect Street area," Peabody police said at about noon. "Prospect Street is closed from Lowell Street to Felton Street. Please avoid this area while PFD and surrounding communities work to resolve."
Multiple emergency services reports said mutual aid was requested as the fires spread from the exterior of the building to the attic.

WHDH-TV said there was one person inside the building when the blaze was reported and that person made it out of the building safely.
The emergency services social media account Metro Fire reported that "all companies ordered out of building, exterior attack" late Wednesday morning.
