Peabody To Begin Curbside Yard Waste Pickup This Week

The week of April 4 will be the first of four weeks this spring where free curbside pickup of yard waste will take place.

PEABODY, MA — It's about time for spring cleanup season to begin in Peabody.

This week will be the first of four weeks this spring where the city will provide curbside pickup of yard waste — including leaves, brush and other debris that accumulated on lawns over the past few months.

“Following another long New England winter, my office has received many calls from residents looking for help in getting rid of dead leaves and brush," Mayor Ted Bettencourt said. "In response, I have scheduled a series of free curbside yard waste collection days beginning the week of April 4th."

Yard waste pickup will also take place the weeks of April 25, May 2 and May 16.

Curbside pickup will take place on the regular pickup day of the week for residents. Residents may use paper bags or barrels. No plastic bags will be accepted.

Haulers may pick up the regular trash first, then come back later in the day for the yard waste.

There is no charge for yard waste collection in Peabody.
