Peabody 'Bridging Generations' Holiday Fair Aims To Bring Students, Seniors Together

PEABODY, MA — Peabody banker Alissa King, who recently launched Senior Tech Safety to help educate seniors about phone and internet scams, is collaborating with Peabody Public Schools on a program to bring students and seniors together to talk about those subjects over craft projects.

King told Patch the first of the two events will be on Nov. 21 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Peabody Institute Library branch on Lowell Street. Proceeds from the event will go to the Citizens Inn.

"I think our youth can only benefit from spending more time side," King told Patch.

She said the schools sent volunteer requests and scavenger hunt items to the schools for the supplies that could be used in the crafts. Items sought include wine corks, felt paper, yarn, jars, buttons and popsicle sticks.

"I have a strong hope that the community will come out to support each other and try to make someone else's holiday season just a little bit better — that's what it's truly about," King said.
