PEABODY, MA — Peabody residents Martha and Chuck Holden are helping gift certificates purchased for the new North Shore Children's Museum go a little further this holiday season.

The Holdens are donating $100 to the museum, the only museum of its kind on the North Shore, for each gift certificate sold — up to $10,000 — beginning on Tuesday.

"This matching challenge is uniquely structured to allow our customers to have a philanthropic impact while getting something in return — above and beyond the incredible feeling that donating provides," said North Shore Children's Museum Executive Director Ali Haydock said. "Gift certificates to the museum will make a special gift this holiday season for any little ones in your life. Families are increasingly wanting to give 'experiences’' over another toy.

"The Holdens' generosity is inspirational and we are so grateful to be able to use it to leverage additional revenue for the museum."

For every gift certificate purchased — at any amount — a $100 donation will be made to the museum.

The matching donation will go to help the museum provide discounted ticket options for low-income families, provide free enriching programming and add to exhibit spaces.
