Peabody To Host Discount Household Hazardous Waste Day For Residents
Residents will be able to dispose of everything from spray cans to batteries to televisions at the event on June 3.
PEABODY, MA — Peabody residents in the midst of doing some spring cleaning will be able to rid themselves of everything from spray-paint cans, to fluorescent light bulbs to old televisions at a discount during the city's annual Household Hazardous Waste Day.
The event will be at the Department of Public Services on Farm Street from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 3.
Residents will be able to dispose of up to 25 gallons or 25 points of household waste for the discount price of $20. Proof of residency is required and checks should be made out to the City of Peabody.

Non-residents can drop off items for the full price between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Contractors may not drop off items at this time.
Clean Harbors Environmental Services will accept oil-based paints (no latex paint), varnishes, pesticides, spray cans and other household hazardous chemicals. Residents can also drop off mercury-containing waste, including batteries, thermometers, thermostats and fluorescent lamps.

Yard waste collection will be closed for the day.
Items that will not be accepted include industrial waste, latex paint, ammunition, asbestos, radioactive material, fire extinguishers, or medical or biological waste.
TVs and computer monitors will also be accepted with the purchase of a $20 sticker per item (also available on-site).
Fees for non-residents are $30 for up to three pounds or three gallons, $36 for up to 10 pounds or 10 gallons, and $60 for up to 25 pounds or 25 gallons.
This is a hands-free event with all participants expected to remain in their vehicles during drop-off.
