Peabody To Host Hazardous Waste Collection Day
Residents can rid themselves of many household and automotive chemicals on June 1.
PEABODY, MA — Peabody residents cleaning out the basement, garage or shed for spring can rid themselves of hazardous waste safely at the Health Department's collection day on June 1.
Items can be disposed of for a $30 fee with televisions and other electronics accepted for a $20 fee at the 50 Farm Avenue location. Proof of residency is required.
Items accepted include oil paints, stains and varnishes, lighter fluid, fuel, gasoline, kerosene, antifreeze, brake fluid, transmission fluid, car wax, driveway sealer, pool chemicals, and propane cylinders.

Pest poisons, fertilizer, weed killer, mothballs, pool chemicals, cleaning supplies, mercury-based thermometers and batteries.
Liquids should be left in their original containers tightly closed and transported upright.

Latex paint, household trash, radioactive waste, infectious waste, ammunition, fireworks, explosives, fire extinguishers, asbestos and prescription medications are not accepted.
