Peabody to Host Workshop on Supporting Kids and Families Coping With Domestic Abuse
The workshop will take place Thursday at the Boston-Peabody Marriott.

PEABODY, MA – The Boston-Peabody Marriott will host a workshop Thursday on establishing support systems for children and families living with domestic violence.
The workshop will be hosted by Dr. Stephanie Howard and tackle issues ranging from the dynamics of domestic violence to methods of intervention that provide stability, specifically for children and teenagers, in the aftermath of an abusive relationship.

- Engage appropriate supports to maximize safety for families coping with domestic violence
- Describe the ways in which the trauma of domestic violence can impact children from infancy to young adulthood
- Identify the links between domestic violence and the parent-child attachment
- Develop skills for assessing the traumatic impact of domestic violence on children
- Apply a trauma lens to interventions with children who witness domestic violence
- Utilize self-care strategies to manage their own responses to the work
The workshop is aimed at daycare providers, teachers, guidance counselors, child protection workers, school psychologists and social workers, mental health professionals and medical professionals.
It will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 21 at the Boston-Peabody Marriott, 8A Centennial Dr.
