Armed Robbery At KAY Jewelers At Peabody's North Shore Mall Monday: Police
Peabody police said the 21-year-old is accused of stealing several necklaces and watches from KAY Jewelers early Monday afternoon.
PEABODY, MA — A Peabody man accused of stealing several necklaces and watches from KAY Jewelers at the North Shore after entering the store wearing a white "Scream" mask and motioning to an employee that he had a gun in his waistband was arrested and charged with armed masked robbery early Thursday afternoon.
Police said Starlin Batista, 21, of Peabody, is accused of entering the store wearing all-black clothing with the "Scream" mask and carrying a backpack. Police said an employee reported that Batista "made a motion to his waist that he had a gun" and passed a note demanding the merchandise.
Police said Peabody Sgt. Steve Zampitella saw a man matching the suspect's description walking on the access road near the mall while still wearing the white mask. Police said Batista was apprehended after first he "first attempted to flee" and was found with a black BB gun as well as the watches and necklaces believed stolen from KAY Jewelers.

Police charged Batista with armed robbery as well as a default warrant on an assault and battery with a dangerous weapon charge.
