Peabody Man Charged With Kidnapping, Ghost Gun Possession In Tewksbury

The Middlesex DA's Office said Jonathan Perry, 22, is accused of assaulting a woman, confining her to a car and illegal gun possession.

TEWKSBURY, MA — A Peabody man was ordered held pending a dangerousness hearing after he was charged with kidnapping, assault and being in possession of an apparent illegal "ghost gun" in Tewksbury.

The Middlesex County District Attorney's Office said Jonathan Perry, 22, of Peabody is accused of assaulting a woman known to him and confining her inside a car. The DA's Office said Tewksbury police responded to a report of an altercation between the Perry and the victim on Tuesday morning near Old Boston Road in Tewksbury.

Perry is accused of grabbing the victim and holding her inside a vehicle he was operating both physically and by using verbal threats.

Police said they were able to identify the possible victim and confirm she may be in danger through a relative. Police located the vehicle in the area of Fuller Street in Stoneham where both Perry and the victim were found inside the vehicle.

Perry, who was on probation after pleading guilty to an involuntary manslaughter charge in Somerville, was arrested without incident. The DA's Office said the probation was revoked.

Police said a search of Perry found him to have a firearm with no serial number — commonly referred to as a "ghost gun" because it cannot be traced. A loaded magazine of ammunition was also found, police said.

Perry was arraigned on Wednesday in Lowell District Court on charges of kidnapping, possession of a large capacity firearm, possession of a large capacity feeding device, assault and battery on a household or family member and possession of ammunition without a license.

Perry's dangerousness hearing is set for Tuesday.
