Peabody Man Connected To Bag Of Meth Charged With Drug Trafficking

PEABODY, MA — A Peabody man was charged with methamphetamine trafficking after police said they used surveillance video to connect him to an abandoned bag of drugs found on Newbury Street on Sunday.

Police said William Decotis, a Newbury Street resident, was charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a class B substance and three counts of possession of a Class E substance.

Police said the drugs were discovered when they searched the bag and that the Criminal Investigation Division identified the man they believe was responsible for the bag being left there.

Police said Decotis was arrested Thursday afternoon and a search warrant was executed at his residents. Additional charges were filed after police said a search of the man's residence uncovered "more narcotics."

Decotis was to be arraigned on all charges on Friday at Peabody District Court.
