Peabody Man Gets At Least 3 Years After Guilty Plea In Robberies

PEABODY, MA -- A Salem Superior Court judge sentenced Kenyatta Brown, 33, of 4 Oak Street in Peabody, to at least three years in prison following guilty pleas to a string of armed robberies. Brown had been charged in three bank robberies, as well as an attempted armed robbery of a woman at an ATM machine. In a letter to the judge, Brown expressed remorse and said he was committed to getting off drugs.

"It seems like but for the narcotics, you'd be a law-abiding citizen," Salem Superior Court Judge Thomas Drechsler said during the sentencing, according to the Salem News. In addition to the 3 1/2 year sentence, Drechsler made drug treatment a condition of the two years probation Brown will serve after his release.
