Peabody Police Annumunition, Fireworks Stash Goes Out With A Bang

Peabody police on Wednesday afternoon detonated a collection of explosives in the Farm Avenue area.

PEABODY, MA — Peabody residents in the Farm Avenue area who were startled to attention by a boom on Wednesday afternoon were not hearing things.

The Peabody Police Department, with help from the Peabody Fire Department and State Police, detonated a stash of ammunition and fireworks that had been stored in the property room of the police station.

Police sent out a notification via social media at about 3 p.m. to expect "a loud noise" at the time of detonation and followed up at about 4 p.m. that they had completed the joint "mission without incident."

Several residents on community social media forums reported hearing the bang midway through the afternoon.
