Peabody Police Arrest Four On Gun Charges

Erick Alberto Lopez and three buddies would have been better off if they didn't try to retrieve a gun they allegedly left at a motel.

PEABODY, MA -- A gun left behind in a motel room led to a two-day investigation and four arrests by the Peabody Police Department. On Monday afternoon police were called to the Newbury Street Inn on Route One, where they recovered a .25 caliber handgun that had been left behind in a recently-vacated room. After identifying the person who had rented the room, police lured the suspect back to the motel and arranged a meeting on Wednesday afternoon.

Erick Alberto Lopez, 29, of Lynn, arrived at the motel in a car with three other passengers. The car was searched and police recovered a loaded 9mm luger handgun. In addition to Lopez, police arrested Salvador Gutierrez, 19, of Somerville, Eliseo Vaquerano, 18, of Chelsea, and an unnamed juvenile.

All four were charged with carrying a firearm without a license, possessing a firearm with a defaced serial number and illegal possession of ammunition
