Police Log: Homeless Man Arrested After Exposing Himself in a Driveway

Friday, Oct. 24
At 3 p.m., police responded to Perkins Street after a report of a suspicious man asking young children for cigarettes. He was wearing a blue hat and low-hanging jeans. The man left before police arrived.
At 3:23 p.m., police arrested Joseph P. DiPietro Jr., 24, 509 Maple St., Danvers, and charged him with shoplifting more than $100 by concealing merchandise. Police made the arrest at J.C. Penney.

At 3:47 p.m., police arrested Jose Torres, 43, homeless, and charged him with open and gross lewdness. Police made the arrest after a report of a man exposing himself in a Washington Street driveway.
At 5:35 p.m., police received a call from Tremont Street after two windows were stolen from a John Deere Bobcat.

At 6:01 p.m., a Pierpont Street resident reported a car window was damaged, possibly by a BB pellet.
At 7:38 p.m., a Bradford Road resident reported a burglary. A 28-inch TV and other items were taken. He said a rear slider was unlocked.
Saturday, Oct. 25
At 9:51 a.m., police summonsed a 41-year-old Malden man to court and charged him with disturbing a funeral procession. Police summonsed the man during a traffic stop on Walnut Street.
At 11:24 a.m., police and fire responded to Brooksby Farm after a 16-month-old child was locked in a vehicle. The Fire Department was able to free the child.
At 2:58 p.m., police responded to Shaw’s Supermarket after a driver crashed into a pole. There were no reported injuries. The car was towed.
At 3:15 p.m., police received a call about children vandalizing trees and plants in Nordstroms. The Northshore Mall handled the matter and gave the youngsters no trespass orders for three months.
At 5:34 p.m., police summonsed a 59-year-old Lynn man to court and charged him with improperly attaching plates. Police summonsed him during a traffic stop on Lake Street.
At 7:47 p.m., police responded to Lowell Street and Jennifer Lane after a pedestrian was struck. He was taken to Salem Hospital.
Sunday, Oct. 26
At 10:09 a.m., police summonsed a 36-year-old Peabody man to court and charged him with operating an unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle. Police summonsed the man during a well being check for a man passed out in a vehicle on Mt. Vernon Street.
At 11:03 a.m., a Russell Street resident reported $8,000 in cash was stolen. A suspect has been identified.
