Police Release Identity Of Salem Man Killed In Peabody Crash

Paul Mauras, 51, of Salem had also lived in Peabody and Lynn in recent years.

PEABODY, MA -- The man who was killed in an early-morning crash on Lynnfield Street in Peabody Saturday was Paul Mauras, 51, of Salem, police said. Mauras was a passenger in one of the two vehicles involved in what investigators believe was a head on crash in the eastbound lane of the roadway. The driver of the car Mauras was riding in, a 43-year-old Peabody woman whose name has not bee released, remains in serious condition at Mass General Hospital in Boston.

The 22-year-old Peabody man driving the other car was treated at Mass General and discharged on Monday. Police responded to the call near 285 Lynnfield Street at 1:04 am Saturday. The road was closed for about three hours. No charges have been filed and the accident remains under investigation by Peabody and Massachusetts State Police.
