The Peabody state representative's office will deliver the pop-tabs that will be recycled with proceeds generated from the scrap value.

"I hope you will join me by simply saving the pop-tab from a can of tonic or beer. Together, we can make an important difference for a family in need." - State Rep. Thomas Walsh (D-Peabody)

PEABODY, MA — The office of State Rep. Thomas Walsh (D-Peabody) will spend the summer collecting pop-tabs to help raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House chapter of Boston.

Walsh this week was at the Charlestown Boston Harbor location to launch the effort that will raise money for the nonprofit that provides housing, hospitality, home-cooked meals and family-oriented activities for families of those with children receiving life-saving treatments at nearby Boston and Rhode Island hospitals.

"The team at Ronald McDonald House Charities offers young patients and their families a warm, friendly place to stay and allows for peace of mind during a very worrying and stressful time," Walsh said. "I hope you will join me by simply saving the pop-tab from a can of tonic or beer. Together, we can make an important difference for a family in need."

"I was thrilled to welcome Representative Walsh to our Ronald McDonald House at Boston Harbor," RMHC-NE CEO Gretchen Manning said. "His compassion, kindness and motivation in wanting to help us fulfill our mission of Keeping Families Close is an inspiration and I’m honored to welcome him to the RMHC-NE family as one of our Champions.

"All services to families are provided free of charge and initiatives like this done by the greater community really have a positive ripple effect, and for generations to come."
