Some Beantown Swing at the Leather City Common

The annual Summer Concert Series kicked off at the Leather City Common on Sunday with performances from the Beantown Swing Orchestra and John Stevens.

The 19th annual Summer Concert Series in Peabody kicked off this past Sunday with perfect weather accompanying the musical stylings of the Beantown Swing Orchestra and “American Idol” finalist John Stevens.

Up next is North Shore Acappella on July 17.

The group has entertained in the Boston area for the last 27 years, adding an experienced blend of harmony, rhythm and tempo to songs from the 1940s through today, with nothing more than vocal talent.

The award-winning group offers a continuously fresh repertoire of hundreds of popular hits with each number and performance arranged to showcase each singer in a lead role.

So grab your lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets and to the  for an evening of entertainment. In case of rain, the concert will be held in the Wiggin Auditorium of .

All concerts are free to the public and run from 6-8 p.m.

The rest of the schedule includes Classic Tracks on July 24, Overdrive on July 31, We Are America Performers on Aug. 7 and the Lee Hawkins Band to close out the concert series on Aug. 14.
