Suspect Surrenders In Peabody Hit-And-Run

The tow truck driver who was hit was taken to Lahey Clinic with non-life-threatening injuries.

PEABODY, MA -- A driver who hit a tow truck driver on Route 128 in Peabody surrendered to Massachusetts State Police more than an hour after the Friday night crash. State Police did not release the name of the driver or the 21-year-old victim, who was taken to Lahey Clinic with non-life threatening injuries.

The tow truck driver was changing a flat tire on the northbound side of the highway near the Route 114 interchange around 9:30 pm when he was hit by a Nissan Altima with Maine license plates. The Nissan fled the scene and state police put out an alert.

Around 10:40 pm Friday, the owner and driver of the Altima surrendered at the State Police barracks in Danvers. State Police said he will be summonsed for leaving the scene of a personal injury crash, marked lanes violations and possibly other charges. State Police dod not issued the names of defendants issued summons until they appear in court.
