Teen Events Coming To Peabody Institute Library In August

Two teen movie nights, a Mass. Book Award tasting event and End of Summer Teen Hangout are open to Peabody students.

PEABODY, MA — Peabody teens looking to meet up with friends and enjoy the final weeks of summer vacation are invited to a series of teen-centric events at the Peabody Institute Library in August.

There will be two movie nights for tweens and teens in grades 6 through 12 on Aug. 2 and Aug. 16 with an additional afternoon showing on Aug. 24. The night movies are in the main library's Teen Room from 6 to 8 p.m. with a screening of "The Black Panther" on Aug. 2 and "Black Widow" on Aug. 16. The afternoon showing on Aug. 24 is "Space Jam: A New Legacy" and will be shown from 2 to 4 p.m.

Popcorn and drinks will be provided each movie night.

A Teen Book Tasting event will be held on Aug. 17 at 3 p.m. as part of a new book award program in Massachusetts just for teens. There are 21 nominees for the Mass. Teen Choice Book Award that will be available to review and take home. Snacks will be provided.

Students are invited to read the books and vote for their favorites at a separate party in September.

The top teen choices will be announced in October 2022 at the Massachusetts Library Association's Teen Book Summit.

Teens heading back to school are also invited to say goodbye to summer at the End of Summer Teen Hangout on Aug. 23 from 6 to 7 p.m. with pizza, music, games and crafts. Those wishing to add to the playlist for the hangout can submit their music selection here.
