Mother, Child Struck By Car In Peabody

PEABODY, MA — A woman and her young child are seriously injured after being struck by a car in Peabody. State police originally said both of the injured were children, but later reports indicate the woman had just picked up her child from a day care and were crossing the street to get to her car when they were hit on Washington Street.

A medical helicopter was requested but called off because of poor weather. The two are reportedly taken to a Boston hospital. The driver of the car stayed on scene and is cooperating with police, according to early reports.

State and local police are at the scene.
