Woburn Resident Named YMCA Of Metro North Chief Of Staff

PEABODY, MA — A Woburn resident and longtime member of YMCA leadership staff in the region is the new chief of staff of the YMCA of Metro North.

Amy Turner, who previously served as the vice president of operations for the YMCA of Greater Boston and the executive director of the North Suburban YMCA of Woburn, will work closely with the teams at the Lynn, Melrose, Peabody, Saugus and Stoneham locations on association strategies to help achieve operational success.

During her tenure at the YMCA of Greater Boston, she oversaw the expansion of programs by 30 percent, including a 200 percent increase in the summer learning program, enhancement of staff credentials, and the implementation of safety measures.

As the executive director of the North Suburban YMCA in Woburn, she led a branch that hosted more than 10,000 members annually.

"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with the YMCA of Metro North community," said Turner in a statement to Patch.

Turner credits her time as an AmeriCorps Fellow for igniting her passion for community service. Since then, she has been committed to making a positive difference in the lives of others.

"Amy has been an admired colleague for the past three decades and the opportunity to work with her is extremely exciting," said Kathleen Walsh, President and CEO of the YMCA of Metro North. "Her skills and successful track will align perfectly with our strategic goals for the next decade. And her attention to detail and sense of humor will add to her contribution as a senior leader in our organization.
