Woman Struck and Killed on Route 1 in Peabody
State Police have not yet identified the 33-year-old woman.

UPDATED: A 33-year old Haverhill woman was struck and killed by a car on Route 1 in front of Red’s Tavern just after midnight, according to state police.
State Police from the Danvers barracks responded to a report of a crash involving a pedestrian at approximately 12:15 early Tuesday morning on Route 1 North in front of Red’s Tavern in Peabody. Information collected in the investigation by Trooper Gary Sacco indicated that a 2012 Honda CRV was travelling northbound when it struck a 33-year-old woman who was walking in the left travel lane of Route 1.
The female pedestrian was transported to Lahey Medical Center where she was subsequently pronounced dead. The operator of the CRV, a 51-year-old man from Ipswich was not injured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services Section. No charges have been filed at this time.

All lanes of the highway were closed for state police investigation until 3:30 this morning.
State Police were assisted on scene by Peabody Police and Fire and Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
