PLYMOUTH, MA — The prosecution rested in the Lindsay Clancy triple murder trial and the defense started its case by calling her mother and sister, according to reports.

"On Monday, the last witness to testify for the prosecution was a digital forensic expert who collected health data, internet searches, and texts and calls from Clancy's phone and Apple watch in the weeks leading up to the killings," a WBUR story said.

The trial entered its fourth week Monday and the defense started its case by calling Clancy's mother and sister to the stand.

Clancy's mother, Paula Musgrove, testified to an "alarming disclosure" made by her daughter, according to Boston.com.

"I remember her being very nervous," Musgove said in the Boston.com story. "I remember her saying, 'I just have to tell you guys something.' And then she told us ... She told us that she had thoughts of harming the children."

Clancy's sister, Allison Ozga, " testified that she saw her sister's mental health deteriorate throughout the fall of 2022, describing her as feeling 'numb' and 'hopeless,'" ABC reported.

Clancy, 35, is charged with the January 2023 murders of 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan Clancy.

Clancy, who was treated for postpartum mental health issues, has admitted to killing her children but "her attorney argues she should not be held criminally responsible because she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and extreme mental illness when she strangled her kids and then attempted to kill herself," according to CNN.
