Blues Sax Legend Greg Piccolo Brings Heavy Juice To Spire Center Sunday
The former Roomful of Blues bandleader makes his Spire debut Oct. 25 at 3 p.m. in the venue's Sunday Serenade Matinee series; tickets via Et

Greg Piccolo and his band Heavy Juice are looking forward to their debut performance at The Spire Center in Plymouth on Sunday, October 25, 2026, as part of the venue's Sunday Serenade Matinee programming. Showtime is set for 3 p.m. Tickets are available through Etix.
A Greg Piccolo concert holds the reputation as being as organic as it gets — as spontaneous and real as the air we breathe and the soil beneath our feet. “I don't know where my music comes from… it just happens, it is just me,” Piccolo says.
Piccolo has lived and breathed music since age 13, when he started his own band in Rhode Island. He enjoyed a 25-year stint with the famed Roomful of Blues, initially serving as the lead tenor sax player whose horn-section work created the distinguishable groove that set Roomful apart. He went on to lead the band through most of the 1980s and 90s, contributing to the performance and recorded material and stepping up front as the band's lead singer. In 1994 he stepped away on a mission to “do my own thing” and started bringing his songs to life with his own band, Heavy Juice — 32-plus years ago now.

In June 2026, Piccolo released 11 of his originals on the acclaimed “Who Knows What the Future Holds,” receiving accolades and radio airplay worldwide. The recording took place in El Paso, Texas, at the famous Sonic Ranch studio with legendary producer Terry Manning, whose credits include Albert King, Beyoncé, Shania Twain and ZZ Top. Riku Metalinen of Blues News in Finland called it “an excellent record that stands the test of time and repeated listening,” spanning Texas blues, ska, soul, rhythm and blues and jump blues.
Piccolo sets very high standards for himself and his bandmates, who come from the same period of influence — the 1940s and 50s, when blues, traditional jazz, R&B and rock'n'roll collided, sax was king and the groove was required. There is rarely a set list: in a live show from his vast repertoire, he calls out what he is feeling, often determined by audience reaction.
