Coronavirus: Plymouth Remote Select Board Meeting
The next Plymouth Select Board meeting through teleconferencing will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. with the public invited to participate.
PLYMOUTH, MA β The Plymouth Select Board will hold a video conferencing meeting on PACtv Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. The agenda includes a request for a public health nurse and temporary homeless population for the approximately 25 homeless population in town.
There will be a conversation about placing, or not placing, a $30 million debt-exclusion override question on the upcoming local election ballot. The town approved a $199 debt-exclusion override in 2005 to build the two new high schools and a new senior center in its last override. Town manager Melissa Arrighi said it is important to address the exception now despite not knowing exactly when town meeting will be held.

"Setting aside the existing unpredictability about the spread of the virus, the economy, the health of our residents, and the dates of town elections/town meetings β the need for improvements to our fire stations has not declined and will not go away without local action and funding," Arrighi said. "All of this will be the focus of the Select Board conversation about the ballot question this Tuesday."

As of Sunday, there were 16 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Plymouth, nine people still under isolation, seven people who were in close contact with someone who has tested positive and still subject to quarantine and 10 close contacts who have competed monitoring.
Arrighi also said the town is giving "serious consideration of how to enforce a much stricter police regarding people accessing the beaches, parks and other public locations. Tougher steps are ones that we are reluctant to take because we encourage those living together and living alone to get outside and walk with proper social distancing, hygiene practices and good sense.
"However, if some of the group gathering that we have heard about over the last few days are factual, we will take these stricter measures and we will not hesitate to submit a request to the National Guard for assistance in our more popular areas if that proves necessary."
