Drunk Plymouth Driver Goes on Wrong-Way Rampage: Police

Kevin Palmer was arrested Saturday after police deployed stop sticks on Route 3.

Police said a drunk Plymouth man went on a wrong-way rampage on Route 3 this weekend, hitting another car and nearly making it to the Sagamore Bridge before stop sticks ended the terrifying incident.

Kevin Palmer, 26, of Plymouth, was arrested early Saturday morning.

Police said they received reports he was driving his 2009 Nissan Sentra the wrong way down Route 3 northbound toward Cape Cod. He hit a vehicle near Exit 6; no one in the vehicle was hurt, police said.

Officers said they shut down the northbound side of the highway and pursued Palmer while other officers threw down stop sticks just before the Sagamore Bridge. Palmer hit the sticks, blowing out two tires, police said. His vehicle eventually stopped in the middle of the road.

He was released on bail and scheduled for an arraignment Monday in Falmouth District Court.
