Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Resource Fair

According to the American Bar Association’s Kinship Care Legal Resource Center, more than six million children (approximately one in 12) are growing up in households headed by grandparents or other relatives. Whether caring for grandchildren is a planned arrangement or happens unexpectedly, grandparents are often unprepared for the responsibility. They may face legal, financial, social, developmental, physical, and/or mental health difficulties, either immediately or
down the road.

On Wednesday June 22, 2011, from 5-7pm, The Council on Aging, in
collaboration with South Shore Women’s Resource Center and the Plymouth Public Library, will sponsor a resource fair for grandparents raising grandchildren.

This event will feature local organizations and businesses that can assist grandparent kinship families with present or future challenges they may encounter while providing Kinship care.

The Resource Fair is free and open to the public. A light snack will be offered and raffle prizes will be offered.

For additional information, or if you would like to participate as a vendor, please call the Plymouth Council on Aging at (508) 830- 4230.
