Former Bruin and Member of 'Miracle' Team Visits Armstrong Arena
Dave Silk, a former Boston Bruin and member of the 1980 Olympic Hockey team, recently visited Armstrong Arena during a youth hockey practice.

Referred to as "an aggressive, pesky, hard skating player who could play all three forward positions...and a smart player with an accurate shot1," by the Bruins Legends blogspot, former right wing for the Boston Bruins, Dave Silk, knows the meaning of hard work and dedication. Most famous for his involvement in the historic 1980 USA Olympic Men's Hockey team, Silk began his hockey career early, playing for Thayer Academy and then for Boston University.
Earlier in the season, players of Duxbury Youth Hockey League were able to walk in Silk's footsteps as they skated in Vancouver for the Lake Placid Tournament where they received USA jerseys and met the legendary Dave Silk. Not one for being a stranger, Silk (a Hanover resident) met up with Duxbury YH again on March 28 at the in Plymouth as a guest during practice. "The kids and parents were pretty excited," said TJ Swiderski, Armstrong Arena Manager. "It was a total ego boost for me when [Dave] introduced himself and went on to say how impressed he was with the ice and how well it was maintained."
"I haven't skated on ice this good for a long time." Swiderski recalls Silk admitting.
