Man Drowns at Plymouth Beach

The body of Michael Gallivan, 26, of Bourne, was recovered from Plymouth's Long Beach Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Plymouth, MA — A man drowned at a Plymouth beach early Tuesday, marking a tragic end to the July 4th weekend.

The victim was identified as Michael Gallivan, 26, of Bourne.

Gallivan was swimming with a friend at Long Beach when he went under; the friend called 911 at about 2 a.m., police said. Gallivan's body was recovered at about 3:20 a.m. Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful; Gallivan was transported to Jordan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
