The Boston Globe All-Scholastic athletes are chosen for each of the three high school sports seasons – fall, winter and spring. The winter sports include boys’ and girls’ basketball, ice hockey, indoor track, gymnastics, swimming, skiing, and boys’ wrestling. The All-Scholastic winners are outstanding performers on fields, courses, courts and in rinks throughout eastern Massachusetts this winter.
Bob Holmes, high school sports editor for The Boston Globe said the students are recognized based on overall stats and if they are leaders on successful teams.
All Boston Globe All-Scholastics are selected by members of The Boston Globe high school sports staff. With the exception of prep school awards, all student-athletes are members of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) teams playing in eastern Massachusetts. Prep All-Scholastics were selected by a committee of coaches from the Independent School League and Eastern Independent League.
