Neighbor News

South Weymouth Dentist, The Toothboss, names George Raymond, Jr.

George Raymond, Jr. has been named the recipient of The Smiling Neighbor award given by South Weymouth Dentist Dr. Richard Wolfert, DMD.

Giving back has played a big role in George Raymond, Jr.’s life, both as a Realtor® with his family’s company, Herbert W. Raymond & Son, Realtors® in Weymouth and as a longtime member and past Master and District Representative for the Weymouth United Masonic Lodge. For those and his recent efforts as part of the annual “Russ Robar Toy Delivery” Drive in conjunction with Weymouth Youth & Family Services, Raymond has been named the recipient of The Smiling Neighbor award given by South Weymouth Dentist Dr. Richard Wolfert, DMD.

“As someone who took part in this year’s gift delivery, you couldn’t help but be moved by the looks on people’s faces knowing that their children would have something under the tree this Christmas,” said Dr. Richard Wolfert, AKA The Toothboss. “I know this is one of many efforts George has been involved with as a member of the Freemasons. He is also a 3rd generation Rotarian with the Weymouth Rotary Club. He is a most worthy candidate for our Smiling Neighbor award.”

The Russ Robar Toy Delivery Drive is conducted in coordination with Weymouth Youth and Family Services, who begin collecting donations of toys and clothing in September. This year’s drive generated 400 bags of gifts, which, through the volunteering of Weymouth United Masonic Lodge’s members and friends, required the services of 60 elves/volunteers to deliver. This year’s effort represented the 28th year the Freemasons have helped Weymouth Youth & Family Services coordinate this drive.

Said Raymond, “I’d like to thank Dr. Wolfert for recognizing me for the Smiling Neighbor award. It’s not why we do what we do as Freemasons or as a Rotarian, but it is nice that our work is noticed by others in the local community.”

Raymond is the fourth generation to work at Herbert W. Raymond & Son, Realtors®. In addition to the Freemasons and Rotary Club, he is also a longtime Old South Youth Group Member and Counselor for 15+ Years, volunteering with Weymouth Babe Ruth, Weymouth Teen Center and other charitable organizations.

Married, Raymond and his wife Erin reside in Weymouth with their son George H. Raymond.

For being selected as the Smiling Neighbor, Raymond had the choice of receiving a $50 gift card to Stockholders or a Sonicare Easy Clean model (he chose the toothbrush).
