Spire Center Adds 3 New Shows: A Christmas Carol, Ellis Paul, Jacob Jolliff Band

The Spire Center for Performing Arts is adding three new shows to its season lineup, including a Plymouth holiday favorite, with tickets going on sale Saturday, October 3 at 6 a.m.

Actor Neil McGarry returns to the Spire on Sunday, December 13 at 3 p.m. (doors at 2 p.m.) with his award-winning solo performance of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Armed with only a bare stage and Dickens' words, McGarry delivers the holiday classic in what the Spire calls a tour-de-force performance that has left audiences riveted from Boston to Prague.

Folk singer-songwriter Ellis Paul, described as “one of the defining voices in American songwriting,” takes the Spire stage Saturday, January 30 at 8 p.m. (doors at 7 p.m.). A constant presence on the American folk circuit for more than three decades, Paul has released 22 albums of original music and performed more than 5,000 shows, with appearances at the Newport Folk Festival and Carnegie Hall. His honors include 15 Boston Music Awards and the Kerrville New Folk Award.

The Jacob Jolliff Band brings an afternoon of contemporary bluegrass to the Spire on Sunday, April 4 at 3 p.m. (doors at 2 p.m.). Jolliff, a Berklee graduate, is a mandolinist known for his work with Joy Kills Sorrow, the Yonder Mountain String Band and banjo legend Béla Fleck. The group of virtuosic pickers plays Jolliff's original instrumentals as well as his vocal numbers, and tours nationally and abroad. Its most recent album is 2024's Mandolin Mysteries.

Both A Christmas Carol and the Jacob Jolliff Band concert are presented as part of the Spire's Sunday Serenades series, an afternoon series spanning classical chamber music, jazz, Broadway, comedy, oldies, indie and more.
