Step into Spring StoryWalk at Myles Standish State Forest

Join Myles Standish State Forest's Step Into Spring StoryWalk during April School Vacation Week.

Walk a trail, read a story, use your senses and connect with your surroundings. The print, illustrations and setting reveal opportunities to learn, read, discover and imagine together on the trail.  Enjoy this unique opportunity to bring the joy of nature and the magic of reading together outdoors! Travel the East Head Reservoir Trail and read In the Woods: Who's Been Here?” written and illustrated by Lindsay Barrett George.  In the story, Cammy and William don't see any wildlife as they walk through the woods, yet there are signs everywhere that animals have been around. Help these young nature lovers find the clues ‐ an empty nest, a fallen branch with the bark gnawed off, feathers on the ground, and more ‐ and join in guessing, "Who's been here?" As you walk along and read the story, look for signs that tell us animals have been around and write them down on the board at the end of the trail to share your observations with others.

This StoryWalk takes place on the East Head Reservoir Trail. Trail starts from the Parking Lot at Headquarters, 194 Cranberry Road, South Carver. The trail is a 2‐mile loop and is an easy walk. Trail cannot accommodate strollers. The StoryWalk is self-guided and will be up from Saturday, April 14th through Sunday, April 22nd.
