Weymouth Club Appoints Assistant Tennis Director to Oversee High Performance Tennis

Weymouth Club is an award-winning family-friendly fitness, wellness and recreation facility.

The renowned Tournament Training Academy at the Weymouth Club, an award-winning family-friendly fitness, wellness and recreation facility catering to residents throughout the South Shore, just keeps getting better. The club recently announced the appointment of tennis professional Tobias Clemens, as Director of High Performance Tennis.

Clemens, a resident of Quincy, is an ATP Division 1 Member who is ATP University Certified and a Certified USTA High Performance Coach. The club's Assistant Tennis Director, Clemens will oversee the club's prestigious Tournament Training Academy and High Performance Tennis program.

On the Tour
With a career high professional singles ranking of 191 (in 2006), Clemens is no stranger to the limelight, having enjoyed 10 singles wins over former and current top 50 players including Ernests Gulbis, Younes El Aynaoui, and Jeremy Chardy. He was an ATP Tournament Quarterfinalist Metz 2006 where he lost to former world Number 1 Novak Djokovic.

Collegiate Career
Clemens was the Number 1 singles player for UCLA with 119 career singles wins (the second highest in UCLA history, 2001-2004), and he was Number 2 ranked Collegiate Player in the country (September 2003). Clemens was also three-time All American (2001-2004), Academic All American (2004) and NCAA Championship Runner Up with the team in 2004.

Clemens will work with youth in the High Performance Tennis program, coaching them for Division 1 College and professional tennis. As a former Traveling Coach for then world number 3 Nikolay Davydenko (2005, 2006 and 2007), as well as a former Southern Methodist University Men's Tennis Assistant Coach (2009-2012) and former Technical Director at Peru's largest tennis academy, Centro Promotor in Miraflores (2013-2015), Clemens is well-suited to take Weymouth Club's top players to the next level.

"Tobias has done a phenomenal job over the years and is capable of taking our High Performance Tennis program to new heights and direction," noted Michael Hodge, the Weymouth Club's Director of Tennis. "Our high performance coaching team is dedicated to helping each player reach his or her full potential."

The talented Tournament Training Academy/High Performance Tennis coaching team working with Clemens is comprised of Robert Yee of Quincy, MA and Calin Mateas of Braintree, MA who are PTR Professional and USTA High Performance coaches; Shaun Crichlow of Milton, MA, a USTA High Performance coach; and PTR Professionals Alberto Garcia of Chestnut Hill, MA and David Hall of Norwell, MA. Hall was ranked in the Top 200 on Tour and played number 1 singles for Duke University. Mateas' son plays for Duke University and his daughter plays professional tennis and is currently ranked 616 in the world.
