The Board of Selectmen has decided to hire a project designer directly instead of an owner’s project manager to speed procurement. Bid documents are expected out this week, with bids opening around July 13.
   

• Plympton domestic violence investigation leads to rape and strangulation charges (shrewsburypost.com) — Plympton police and county prosecutors have charged a local man in connection with a serious alleged domestic assault reported June 9 at a West Street residence. Authorities say the victim reported severe injuries and was treated at a hospital, while the suspect also required medical care after his arrest. The case remains in the court system, and no conviction has been reached.
