📰 News we're reading

• Arthur J. Giordani, 92 (thequincysun.com) — Quincy is mourning Arthur J. Giordani, a lifelong Houghs Neck resident, Quincy High graduate, Air Force veteran, and active parishioner at Most Blessed Sacrament Church. His long life touched many local institutions, from the Fore River Shipyard to the Merry Men Foundation, and his large Quincy-based family remembers him as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

• Full Circle for U.S. Maritime Industry: USNS Dewayne T. Williams Returns to Massachusetts for Drydocking at Boston Ship Repair (goiam.org) — Quincy’s historic Fore River Shipyard and General Dynamics Quincy Shipbuilding Division are back in the spotlight as the USNS Dewayne T. Williams returns to Massachusetts for drydocking in Boston. The story traces the vessel’s 1985 construction in Quincy, the shipyard’s union legacy, and how today’s IAM workers continue that tradition in the state’s maritime industry.

• New England's RF & Microwave Legacy: Past, Present and Future (microwavejournal.com) — New England’s RF and microwave industry has deep roots, and Quincy now plays a role through Anduril’s underwater autonomous systems division located here. The piece traces how universities, defense contractors, and tech firms across the region built today’s radar, wireless, and microwave ecosystem, and explains why companies with Quincy operations are likely to drive future 6G, defense, and autonomous systems advances.
