Driver in Qunicy School Bus Crash Charged

Mark Woods has been cited for negligent operating of a motor vehicle and a marked lanes violation.

QUINCY, MA — The driver of a school bus that crashed into a home in Quincy last week will face charges.

Monday, the Quincy Police Department announced that Mark Woods has been cited for negligent operating of a motor vehicle and a marked lanes violation.

On Oct. 25 at about 11:46 a.m., a Quincy school bus transporting Bernazzani Elementary School students was traveling on Quarry Street when it left the roadway and crashed into a fire hydrant, telephone pole, fence, stone wall, a Nissan Pathfinder attempting to exit Fallon Court, and a house at 62 Quarry St., police said. Five children on the bus, the driver of the Pathfinder, and Woods were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The negligent operation charge carriers a penalty of up to 2 years in jail, a $200 fine, a $250 contribution to the head injury fund, and a license suspension of up to 60 days. The marked lanes violation carrie a $105 fine.
